Overview
The Core i5-14400 is the all-round sensible choice for an office, family or light gaming PC on Intel’s LGA1700 platform. Ten cores (6 Performance + 4 Efficient) and 16 threads handle everyday multitasking, Office, browsing with lots of tabs and light photo or video work without fuss, and it boosts to 4.7 GHz for games.
Two things make it easy to live with: it has Intel UHD 730 graphics built in, so you do not need a separate graphics card for a desktop PC, and it comes with Intel’s stock cooler in the box. It works with both DDR4 and DDR5 boards (B660/B760, H610/H770, Z690/Z790), which makes it a good drop-in upgrade or replacement for existing 12th/13th-gen systems.
