Overview
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is the processor most people building a high-end gaming PC should be looking at. AMD stacks 96MB of L3 cache on the die (3D V-Cache), which lets games keep far more data close to the cores — the result is the highest gaming frame rates of any desktop CPU in most titles, especially at 1080p and 1440p where the CPU, not the graphics card, sets the limit.
Second-generation V-Cache sits under the cores rather than on top, so unlike the 7800X3D this chip runs at full Zen 5 clocks and is unlocked for overclocking. It is also a very capable all-rounder for streaming and content work. No cooler is included; a good 240mm or 360mm AIO or a large tower cooler is recommended.
