Overview
The Ryzen 5 9600X is AMD’s six-core Zen 5 desktop chip for the AM5 platform. It is the sensible choice for a mid-range gaming or everyday PC: strong single-core speed for games and general use, low 65W power draw, and the same AM5 socket, DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 support as the higher-end 9000 series, so you can upgrade later without changing the board.
Pair it with a B650 or B850 board and 32GB of DDR5-6000 for a balanced build. It has no bundled cooler, so budget for a tower air cooler or a 240mm AIO.
